Testophobia – hypnosis for phobias

by adv1 » Fri Dec 27, 2013 9:43 pm

Hypnosis for phobias can help if you are testophobic.
You sit down to the test, you start to sweat and your heart races. You really feel a panic attack coming on. What can you do? You need to get our of there as fast as possible. The problem is you leave and you fail, it is that simple.
The really horrible thing is you know the answers. You have studied and studied and the subject is sorted in your mind. It doesn’t make sense, it’s just not fair.
Phobias like testophobia (the fear of exams or test) never make sense. That is why it is called a phobia. It is the unreasonable response to a slightly stressful event.
Like a spider, nobody likes them but some people’s response is just not in proportion to the danger presented. Phobias are quite commonplace. Up to 11% of the total population have to deal with a phobia at some place in their lives1
People will go to amazing lengths to cover up a phobia. Lies may become so convoluted that everyone may realize you have a phobia before you can admit that you do.
Many phobic responses can be avoided but taking exams cannot be. It can compromise your whole future. Hypnosis can literally save your career.
First the therapist will find the root cause of the problem and find out what the subconscious is trying to protect you from. Then they will replace the anxiety with calm and understanding. It will allow the knowledge you have to be more easily accessed.
Hypnosis is not giving up control to a therapist, it is allowing you a great amount of control over your fears. Relaxing through the whole process of an exam can mean the difference between a pass or a fail.
Never be confused by a healthy fear and a phobia. A healthy fears warns you that you may have not prepared enough. It may make you realize that you have not studied sufficiently for the type of test presented. But even here hypnosis can help. It may not be able to make you remember things you never knew but can help you access memories of lectures more easily to get the best out of your experience.
