Erasmus Pforzheim - Hochschule Pforzheim

by palinx » Fri Mar 18, 2011 11:04 am

Hello all!
I chose Pforzheim in Germany because I really wanted to go to Germany. I had some other towns to chose from, but I chose Pforzheim, because it is smaller - around 100.000 people. Take a look here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pforzheim
The city itself really is nice and warm. I spent 6 months there and meet a lot of people that were from everywhere, from all continents. Really a nice experience.
I lived in "Kepler" - here is the link: http://www.studentenwerk-fh.de/html/info_eng.html.
It was the best and the cheapest accomodation I could find. (180€ rent). It was recently renewed so it is even nicer now :) It is located 10 minutes walk from my college. There are single rooms with internet and WC. Kitchens are common for each floor - great meeting place :) In Pforzheim there is a free bus for students. But the city is not that big so you can walk around also. We used kitchen to cook for because in student restaurants food was not to good :P There are many fast food restaurants with "kebab" - similar to tortillia -rooled with vegetables and meat.
We spent free time doing sports and travelling around. You can play any sports you like - you pay 5€ per semester - sports are organized by university. Also there were many parties, so it was really fun.
In general I spent around 500-600€ per month (including all - accomodation, food, study accessories, trips, parties,..)
I am happy that I went, best experience ever!!

hey! Thanks for informations, its really helpfull. I have a few questions more, if you can answer it...
1. Do you need to speak German if you go there or it is not really necessary? :)
2. Do you need study hard or it is easy to do the exams? Im a little worried about this and about giving back the scholarsip in case i dont make it.
thanks anyway, by
